*Passing of the Peace:

Leader:  Since we have been justified through faith, we now have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Let us live into and share this peace and grace with our neighbors in all we do.  May the peace of Christ be with you.

People: And also with you.

Prelude:

*The Call To Worship:

Leader:  God is good!

People:  All the time!

Leader:  All the time…

People: God is good!

Unison: Because that is His nature!

Leader:  Let us worship the Him Who is worthy: O Lord Jesus Christ, You were slain, and by Your blood have ransomed us for God, from every tribe and people and nation – -- a royal house of priests of our God.

Unison:  Worthy is the lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth, wisdom and might, honor and glory and blessing.  The One seated upon the throne, and to Christ the Lamb, be blessing and honor, glory and might, forever and ever.  Amen.

*Hymn:                        “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”                   #43

*Call To Confession:

*Prayer of Confession:

Unison:  Lord, we come before you broken, downhearted, and in a sinful state.  Some of the choices we have made have been against Your will and Your ways.  Give us strength to truly repent.  In Your great mercy, forgive us and cleanse our hearts of all unrighteousness.  Hear now our individual confessions as we silently reveal to You what You already know.    Amen

*Affirmation of Faith:                            The Nicene Creed

Unison: We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, True God from True God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through Him all things were made.  For us people, and for our salvation, He came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary, and became truly human.  For our sakes He was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered, died and was buried.  On the third day he rose again in accordance to the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven, and is seated on the right hand of the Father.  He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead.  His kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, and Giver of Life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son; and together with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified and who has spoken by the Prophets.  We believe in one holy catholic, and apostolic Church.  We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins; and look for the Resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.  Amen.

Title:            “ Testing  the  Spirits:  Is  there  Such  a  Thing  as  Truth?”

   I  John   4:1  -  6

1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.  2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.  This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.  4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.  5 They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them.  6 We are from God.  Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us.  By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
